MECHANICS / RULES QUESTIONS?
Following are notes on specific rules that were
discussed at recent DMSUA training sessions:
toe
plates ... can be worn by any player at any position, on one foot or two, and
they can be steel, leather, plastic, etc.
the
20 seconds allotted for the pitcher to pitch begins when she gets the ball
irregardless if she is in the circle or not
foul
tip ... the NFHS office wants a foul tip called when (1) the ball goes
directly to the glove/hand, then body, then glove/hand and is control, and when
(2) the ball goes directly to the body, then glove/hand and is control. The key
is "body" must be the upper torso of the catcher. Anything else is a foul
ball.
